Departure Bay

The feel of the place

Leafy streets, mid-century homes, and the ferry terminal right there — which sounds like it'd be loud but genuinely isn't once you're a block off Stewart Ave. Departure Bay is where a lot of my Vancouver clients end up, because they want water access, a real yard, and a 10-minute walk to the ferry for weekend trips back to the mainland.

Best for

  • Commuters doing the weekly ferry run to Vancouver
  • Families wanting a yard + beach access
  • Boaters — marina + launch on your side of town

Worth knowing

  • Kenmore–Stewart corridor gets ferry-offload traffic 4x/day
  • Some older septic systems in the north end — worth checking
  • Popular area; homes move quickly in spring
